A landmark recording in the history of electronic composition, Music from Mathematics assembles melodies programmed by Bell Labs technicians for the then-new IBM 7090, the company's first commercial solid-state computer. These eerie, remote songs many authored by the pioneering visualacoustical researcher Dr. Max Mathews are in effect the 7090's magnetic impressions of mathematical equations imprinted on punch cards. Mathematics is a b-side single from Mos Def's solo debut album, Black on Both Sides. It contains lyrics about various social issues and asks the listener to add them up and come to conclusions about them. Many references to numbers are found in this song and at times, Mos Def rhymes statistics in numerical order. The song highlights the differences between the White and African-American citizens of the US and uses the lyrics Do your math. telling young African-American's to 'do their maths' so. Mathematics styled Mahematics is the twelfth studio album by singer-songwriter Melissa Manchester, issued in April 1985. The album was Manchester's first studio album since leaving Arista Records, her label for ten years, after her 1983 album Emergency. Signed to MCA Records, the album was a progression of that last album, in that it relied more on a synth-popnew wave sound rather than on her earlier singer-songwriter-styled records. This is an innovative and extremely unusual album which came about through research work at Bell Labs in the late 50's and early 60's. The tracks are either cover versions or compositions by scientists that are designed to illustrate the different ways in which computers can make music. The highlight is 'Bicycle built for two', which features some unusual synthesised singing Rispondi Avvertimi 2 Helpful
