It was released on 22 September 1997 in the United Kingdom by Duophonic Records and on 23 September 1997 in the United States by Elektra Records. The album was co-produced by Stereolab with John McEntire and Andi Toma. Dots and Loops peaked at number 19 on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the band's second top 20 album on the chart. In the United States, it was the band's first entry on the Billboard 200 chart, where it. In September 1997, Stereolabs sixth album Dots and Loops was their first to land on the Billboard charts. It may have been riding the critical goodwill of the previous years breakthrough Emperor Tomato Ketchup, but the time was ripe for Stereolabs breakthrough, as well-over the past year, the modern rock landscape had finally caught up to the crate-digging leftists. Less than a year after Billboards Modern Rock chart was topped by two moody Fats Domino and B. King-sampling coffee-shop poets came a catchy song about crystal meth addiction and an unavoidable pub singalong by anarchists who. In many ways, Dots and Loops is Stereolab's greatest musical accomplishment to date, demonstrating remarkable skill - their interaction is closer to jazz than rock, exploring all of the possibilities of any melodic phrase. Their affection for '60s pop keeps Dots and Loops accessible, even though that doesn't mean it is as immediate as Emperor Tomato Ketchup. In fact, the laid-back stylings of Dots and Loops makes it a little difficult to assimilate upon first listen, but after a few repeated plays, its charms unfold as gracefully as any other Stereolab record. In 2019, a series of reissues included the expansion of the album that broke the analog days of experimental pop. Dots and Loops Q&A. I'm now in complete agreement. I listen to and enjoy many genres of music, and Stereolab really hit the spot for me. It's not frantic or cold or manipulative, but most importantly, it's not boring. Very pleasing music, from start to finish. Stereolab is an awesome band. This is probably my favorite album by them, and a great place to start listening to Stereolab if you haven't before. Check out their earliest stuff, Cobra Phases and Emperor Tomato Ketchup as well. Stereolab rules m -. Dots & Loops. Stereolab - Dots & Loops 1997. To favorites 1 Download album. Listen album.
