By the start of 2013, the band had developed plans to begin recording a follow-up. Anna Fox Rochinski explained that while there was a strong collaborative aspect to their music for this album they brought in 'finished' songs as well. That was a first for us. John and Shane and I all sing and write songs, and I think the album is a very good mix of our individuality and. Held In Splendor by Quilt, released 28 January 2014 1. Arctic Shark 2. Gaelan D'costa There's something ghostly about this band, a cheerfulness in their twangly that minimizes the twee of this genre and makes it good music to be lost in the world to. Favorite track: Tie up the Tides. Their second album, Held in Splendor, feels like both a continuation and a dramatic evolution from their early days. Shane Butler, Anna Fox Rochinski, and John Andrews bring more form and focus to their trips that they were able to record these songs in an intense set of sessions, instead of over the course of a year like they did with their debut, only helps their coherence. Working with Woods' Jarvis Taveniere was also an inspired choice, since his music also feels like both a long-lost discovery and utterly fresh. Album 2014 13 Songs. More By Quilt. See . It turns out spending 60 hours in a basement recording your second LP can be a pretty good use of ones time. Held In Splendors strength comes from the addition of some new instruments with the help from some friends, which imbue tracks with a soft warmth and glow, and otherwise uplift the 6070s psych genre they inhabit. Piano, violins and cellos appear on I Sleep in Nature and Mary Mountain which blow out any simple attitudes held against the psych-rock genre out of the water. With Held in Splendor, this group discovers their influences, then surrounds and deconstructs them. At its best, the album achieves bliss and demands attention. Read full review. On Quilts sophomore release, Held In Splendor, band members Shane Butler, Anna Fox Rochinski, and John Andrews grow more expansive in their instrumentation, blowing out their simple psych-folk ditties into strings-laden multi-part suites that build toward thrilling, guitar-heavy climaxes. Its a clear progression that nevertheless manages to keep Quilt tucked firmly in the milieu of paisley-colored retro pop-rock. Lesser groups working the same territory tend to lose sight of their songwriting while in pursuit of just the right Rickenbacker guitar sound or the precise vintage of Farfisa organ

Comments to album Quilt - Held In Splendor
If you decide just one number of Quilt, try at least download Arctic Shark once set up. The album opener of hero In Splendor, the second album by Quilt, is really enjoy it again. Main attraction is the velvety voice of Anna Fox Raf skilfully over the peaceful music back buitelt. This highlight is unfortunately no longer matched. Put you after this song the stereo out, you are missing, however, all the other qualities of this trio from Boston. Quilt makes psychedelic folk rock with a huge scope. With only three votes, they know to give each song a different timbre. RAF let the lead vocals regularly to the two men at her side and there are also several songs sung for three voices. The violently with sixties touches of music goes from quiet acoustic folk-quotes to wrought-up psychedelics. Each issue is otherwise accessed and still, it's a whole. A whole that only thanks to the excellent opening number a bit disappointing. Oh well, maybe were only dear folkliedjes with Raf in the lead role in the long term, also called become boring.
